Wedding Ceremony, Cape Sienna Hotel Phuket, Kamala Beach – Caroline & Ben
Caroline and Ben’s destination wedding ceremony took place at the very chic and romantic 5 star wedding venue of Cape Sienna Hotel Phuket, Kamala Beach. I was gratefully introduced to Australian doctors Caroline and Ben via a close friend of mine Hannah, also the sister of bride Caroline. Thanks so much for the intro Hannah was an absolute delight to cover their dream destination wedding! We were also fortunate to work alongside the very talented local hair and make-up artist Neil Donkin at Elite Hair and Make-up, a respected Australian artist originally from Sydney with over 25 years’ experience in both fashion and television.
It was a rather stormy day so the ceremony moved inside creating a perfectly intimate wedding day atmosphere. As dusk approached the weather had whisked up dramatic tropical skies, creating fantastic moody backdrops for a number of unique bride and groom portraits. Our favourite image features Caroline and Ben backlit using a flash in the rain – remarkably with a natural gust of wind their umbrella blew away – creating a truly unique fleeting moment, that we thankfully captured as it flew into air. Actually this shot is one of my favourites from the entire year.
Bride Caroline had a really inventive idea for their wedding day celebrations, by borrowing a family tradition of using small egg whisks as fake microphones – as you can imagine this clever gimmick provided hours of singing entertainment while guests partied on the dance floor. Despite the rainy weather their friends and family continued their wild celebrations late into the night, with a few splashes in the villa swimming pool too!
