A-Yee and Adam’s Vibrant London Wedding
We loved photographing Adam and A-Yee’s vibrant London wedding, an exquisite event that they had planned themselves. Their wedding represented a fusion of their cultures (A-Yee is Chinese and Adam is Vietnamese) and was a truly fantastic affair to be a part of.
We joined them early on in the day at their family homes, where we were able to experience traditional Chinese games in which the groom must prove his love for his bride before being allowed to see her. While the man took part in these games, the bridal party prepared for the wedding, doing their own hair and makeup. A-Yee wore a custom-made, traditional kwa (a jacket and long skirt made of red and gold embroidered silk). She later changed into a white backless gown by Maggie Sottero, and then a custom-made, crimson-lace mermaid gown. The bridesmaids all wore the Helena dress by Virgos Lounge.
The bride and groom had rented a white Rolls-Royce and a Hummer to transport them to a restaurant in Wandsworth called China Boulevard on the River. The venue had been decked out with lovely floral arrangements from Fleur Boutique Florist, and decorations suitable for their red and gold colour theme.
Unfortunately, though, many of the guests were caught in traffic because of a bike race. Undeterred, A-Yee and Adam rearranged the order of their day and made sure that their day was not at all dampened by this!
The ceremony and reception themselves were joyful and energetic, complete with a six-man lion dance, a playlist of the bride and groom’s favourite classical music, and two extravagant cakes: a 3-tier lemon and coconut cake made by Jemini Parmar, one of the bridesmaids, and a 3-tier, heart-shaped fruit cake by Golden Gate Cake Shop.
A-Yee and Adam’s wedding was such an wonderful occasion, and we are so pleased to have been able to capture the many beautiful moments of the day for them!
