A Gorgeous Thailand Wedding at Bann Chang Thai Villa

This is an amazing multicultural couple! Bianca is Portuguese, and Mattias is Swedish and Greek. They both live in Canada, but they got engaged in France and married in Thailand. How amazing is that? Since Stam and I work as Thailand wedding photographers, and in even more locations all over the world, we always appreciate it when couples have a global love story like Mattias and Bianca! There’s love all over the world and it’s such a pleasure to capture it.

Mattias proposed in Paris when they decided to go on a boat dinner cruise along the river for his birthday. There were a few photographers on the boat photographing the tables, so Mattias spoke with them about capturing photos of their engagement. The photographers told Bianca that they were taking night shots as they approached the Eiffel Tower, and instead, they captured the moment Mattias got down on one knee!

These two world travelers had also been to Thailand a couple years ago and fell in love with not only the beautiful views but the people and the country. Bianca described it to Stam and me as a “magical and spiritual connection that we had never experienced before,” so of course, they knew they needed to get married there. They felt closer and more connected to each other in this beautiful country, so what better place to take that big step together?

One of the things that we truly enjoyed about working with Bianca and Mattias was their ability to laugh and to make the most out of anything that came their way. Poor Bianca was having a hard time in her dress, walking in her heels for the first time. She kept stepping on her dress, and she was having such a hard time that the slow motion down the stairs ended up melting the crinoline on her dress because she stayed near the candles for so long! Even though she was struggling to make that first look feel romantic in her burning dress, she told us later that she still looks back on it and loves the memory of it. That’s a great outlook to have.

On the other hand, the walk back down the aisle during the ceremony was much more romantic and intimate. The sun was setting over Phuket, and those two clearly couldn’t see anything but each other. After that, we grabbed some dramatic and authentic portraits of the two of them for half an hour—and they turned out beautifully!

Their families were also so much fun to spend time with. Bianca’s brother had an eccentric beard and the craziest dancing, and Mattias’ sister had a hilarious speech about when he was younger! We had a blast!
