Susie & Michael’s Secluded Beach Wedding
Bride Susie and groom Michael are both Korean-American’s and first met at a friend’s party in New York City. They wanted a small and intimate Trisara wedding in Phuket with close friends and family, so they could spend a few relaxed days together while enjoying everything a truly tropical destination wedding has to offer.
The Proposal: Michael’s proposal was ingenious and we salute his patience, waiting for the actual moment to arise! One of the first times they went away together they booked into a beautiful B&B in Vermont. Adam had a cunning proposal idea, he asked Susie help him do a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle, which actually took them all day to complete. You know that annoying moment when you’re missing the last piece, well that’s exactly what happened but of course there was a twist. Michael had placed, what turned out to be the last piece, into a jewellery box which he hid inside the closed puzzle box. Michael pretended to look for the piece while Susie grew increasingly agitated. Susie then decided to grab and shake the puzzle box, hurrah she heard something inside, so quickly tore it open and found a jewellery box… Michael quickly got on one knee and popped the question with the ring in his hand. After five seconds of silence, obviously in shock, Susie responded by asking “does that mean the missing piece is in here?” pointing to the jewellery box. Her first instinct was to finish the puzzle and then replied “Yes!” putting on her stunning engagement ring by jewellers Jerry Blickman.
The awesome New York couple then started to arrange their small and intimate Trisara wedding in Phuket This is one of our favorite venues with its private pool villas nestled between acres of lush tropical forest and the Andaman Sea with panoramic ocean views.
On 17th March 2016 the wedding day celebrations began with an amazing tea ceremony at the villa, with everyone wearing traditional Korean dress, they all looked brilliantly colourful. The bride then changed into her white wedding dress by Natori with hair and make-up by Kate’s Hair and Make-up Studio Phuket. Michael’s favourite moment from the entire wedding was when he first saw his bride to be Susie in her wedding dress. Unlike traditional British weddings, both the groom and bride chose their own best men, each of them dressed in suits by Kiton.
Secluded Beach Wedding: The bride and groom’s guests travelled from both the US and Korea to be with them on their uniquely special day. The idyllic setting of their Trisara wedding in Phuket, decorated with white flowers took place on a beautifully secluded part of the beach. The wedding planners at Trisara did an amazing job once again! The bride’s favourite wedding day moment “When I got to eat the cake. Just kidding. When we exchanged our vows”. We loved the fact that their wedding rings were family heirlooms.
As the sun started to set we gathered on the private beach for the bride and groom’s portrait shots, it was so peaceful. The dramatic light cast by the beautiful sunset provided a fabulous backdrop, and were able to take our favourite photo of the bride and groom having a smooch on top of the rocks. Two days later we met with Susie and Michael again for another photoshoot, this time we took them out at sunrise to a deserted island in the Andaman Sea by Thai Longboat, it was truly spectacular.
We’re heading to New York for another wedding photography assignment in October and really hope to be able catch up with you guys over dinner then.
