On February 24th we had the honour of photographing Tim and Kristina’s incredibly romantic island wedding in Thailand. The lovely couple married at the gorgeous and secluded Village resort on Coconut Island. From our perspective this was a truly wonderful event to be a part of, the lovely New Zealand couple were are so relaxed and keen to have as much fun as possible which made our job really enjoyable. We got on really well with them as soon as we met them and their energy as a couple was fantastic, the wonderful location and group of friends they brought with them were all ingredients that made this a special wedding to be a part of.

We love to mix our candid photo journalism with more constructed creative photography when time allows, and the size of this wedding made that all very possible; there were many funny, emotional and beautiful moments to capture, but we also got some time to be creative in the morning during the pre-ceremony preparations, and were treated to a spectacular sunset when the bridal party let off lanterns.

Kristina and Tim’s romantic story involves them meeting on Valentine’s day, getting engaged on New Year’s Eve with a beautiful Paul Bram engagement ring and marrying on a private island surrounded by palm trees, sand and a very loving group of friends and family. The island setting was truly phenomenal, the bluest sea and the brightest sky really added to the magical atmosphere.

Guests travelled from New Zealand, Australia, England, Belgium and China to be a join Tim and Kristina for their romantic island wedding. Everyone was so excited to be there and Kristina and Tim were so relaxed and keen to have as much fun as possible, this made it such an enjoyable and special wedding to be a part of. The venue was dressed up beautifully with a relaxed and rustic vibe with elegant flowers from Tiffany’s Flowers  in cream and muted pink. The bridal party complimented the decor of the venue perfectly, the bridesmaids wore pretty and simple dusty pink dresses from Moochi, New Zealand, and Kristina looked gorgeous in a delicately detailed and flowing Pronovias gown from Brides on Thordon, Wellington NZ, coupled flawlessly with Tony Bianco shoes and Swarovski jewellery. The gentlemen wore Ben Sherman.

We found it such a struggle choosing our favourite photos from the day because there were so many wonderful moments to capture, we especially enjoyed taking some gorgeous coulee pictures of Kristina and Tim together at dusk. All the elements came together so beautifully that it was simply a delight to photograph. Another memorable moment was the wedding party pool jump which ended with every single person at the romantic island wedding in the pool! The Haka performance was really something special too. We had so many fantastic opportunities to take stunning photos of such a fun couple, definitely one of our favourite weddings this year. We are really grateful that Tim and Kristina chose us to capture their special day, we wish them the best of luck for a long and happy marriage.
