Stam and I first meet Scottish bride Gemma in Glasgow, about a year before her wedding. She gave a very detailed picture of her dream Rayavadee wedding in Krabi. We understood straight away that Gemma and Martyn’s wedding was going to be an intimate and relaxed affair.
Gemma and Martyn met in 2008 in their home town Falkirk in Scotland. And just four years later, very romantically on Christmas Day morning, Martyn proposed to his wife to be Gemma. She of course said yes and off they went to Christmas Day lunch at Gemma’s mum’s house with very exciting news!
Gemma: “We didn’t want a big wedding, just something small and intimate. Scottish weather is miserable, so we decided to go abroad. Martyn’s friend had mentioned a wedding he was at in Rayavadee. We took a look and fell in love!!”
The bride and groom wanted a tropical themed wedding and decided that a Rayavadee wedding in Krabi would be the perfect place to do it! Rayavadee, Krabi is situated at the heart of the stunning Phranang Peninsular on the edge of Krabi Marine National Park. The Rayavadee Resort nestles discreetly amidst tropical gardens and coconut groves against a backdrop of sheer cliffs, lush jungle foliage and the clear waters of the Andaman Sea.
On the day of the wedding, before the main celebrations began at their Rayavadee wedding in Krabi, it started to rain a little, cooling down the heat of the day, creating a really cosy atmosphere for the wedding preparations.
Gemma stepped into her stunning wedding dress by “Morilee by Madeline Gardner” and accessorised head to toe in diamonds. Her hairpiece and earrings both from Hummingbird Falkirk, a diamond heart pendant necklace (a present from her Dad), bracelet by Swarovski and bridal shoes by Melissa – J Maskrey. Her outfit was then completed with hair and make-up by the talented artist Neil Donkin.
Martyn wore a fantastically contrasting bright pink tie against his royal blue suit by Mr James Tailors in Edinburgh.
20th May 2016 will be a day Gemma and Martyn will never forget. Their Rayavadee wedding in Krabi took place underneath the tall coconut trees on the vibrantly green, coconut lawn – a totally picturesque setting. Their flowers and venue dressings continued with the tropical theme including vibrant splashes of pinks, blues and purples.
As soon as Martyn and Gemma became husband and wife, we headed with their wedding party guests, all from Scotland, to their reception, spectacularly nestled in one of the caves at Rayavadee.
Gemma & Martyn’s favourite wedding day moments: The ceremony on the coconut lawn and dancing in the cave!
We loved walking down to the limestone caves with Gemma and Martyn at dusk, we were able to capture such dramatic photographs for the bride and groom portraits.
The speeches, entertainment and dancing were wonderful, set against this amazing backdrop.
Thank you Gemma and Martyn for being such a pleasure to work with, we loved your energy as a couple at your Rayavadee wedding in Krabi, and you made photographing the day so much fun.
