British couple Amanda and Louis first met on a blind date in Central London. While on holiday to Sri Lanka a few years later Louis romantically proposed to Amanda on the top of Adam’s Peak in Sri Lanka, with her beautiful engagement ring from London’s Hatton Gardens. Who knew that their budding romance would be solidified at their Chakrabongse Villa wedding.
Chakrabongse Villa is a little known marvel tucked away in a prime location by the Chao Phya River, in the midst of Bangkok’s old quarter. The choice of venue wasn’t only a stunning option but extremely convenient to organize and manage for their international guests as Amanda’s parents also live in Bangkok.
We were delighted to hear from Amanda and Louis when they first got in touch, as we were recommended through one of our former UK clients who also married. Our Chakrabongse Villa wedding preparations were made even easier thanks to Amanda’s parents for taking us on a tour of the venue in advance of their big day, to get a feeling for the day’s events.
We were also invited to a fabulous pre-wedding party in Bangkok’s old district at Tep Bar, where we met Amanda and Louis for the first time in person and got to know some of their closest friends and family. Stam and I love to have the opportunity to meet with our clients and their families at pre-wedding events as it really helps us go unnoticed on the wedding day itself, to capture all the emotion, humour and details of the day.
Wedding Day Preparations and The Wedding Ceremony
On 27th March 2016 Amanda and her 4 bridesmaids Laura, Alex, Krissy and Domi had their hair and make-up beautifully prepared by Panipa Hair and Beauty while Louis and his 8 Groomsmen were suited and booted by local talent Pinky Tailors, Bangkok.
Amanda arrived at the stunning riverside location by speedboat wearing a classically elegant white wedding dress by Zimmerman and bridal shoes by Steve Madden. The wedding planners Patricia Frost and Ailsa Bait dressed the venue beautifully with oriental flowers, angie and maneeporn puangla (paper flowers) and we especially enjoyed the traditional Thai water ceremony they chose to have. Their Chakrabongse Villa wedding was off to an amazing start, for sure!
The very special couple brought a really boisterous crowd with them, mainly from the UK but also as far afield as the US, France, Asia and Australia to help celebrate their Chakrabongse Villa wedding. The bride and groom’s favourite moments were of course the speeches, and the surprise fireworks (“The Pooks”).
Before the fireworks display by Chalaw Chochaithip and the musical entertainment by Bangkok’s DJ Mario we managed to borrow the happily married couple for their bride and groom portrait shots. We Headed down the back streets of the old quarter, where we able to capture the bride and groom’s love for one another amidst the atmospheric setting of Bangkok’s vibrant but chilled night life.
Amanda and Louis were an absolute pleasure to work with at their Chakrabongse Villa wedding. Thank you for letting us take your professional wedding photos, and to help capture your life-long wedding day memories.
