Can you picture anything more romantic than tying the knot on the gorgeous island of Santorini in Greece? The sun, sea, rugged landscape, and those breathtaking cubiform houses are enough to leave anyone weak at the knees.

And that is why one of the best investments you can make on your big day, is hiring a experienced photographer to work alongside you, so that your Santorini wedding photography is bursting with life. Here, Liam Collard and Stam reveal some of their valuable tips and tricks on how to get the best possible images, as well as things you should try to avoid. Additionally, they’ve provided a few of their best Santorini summer pics from this year. It’s officially time to get inspired!

1. Taking sunrise pics at Oia is a must!

Oia is the most famous village in Santorini, popular for its outstanding sunsets. Unfortunately, that means that getting a fantastic sunset shot may prove to be overwhelming and somewhat annoying due to the all of the tourists. Which is why opting for a sunrise photo shoot is a much better idea. Not only will the area be quieter, but the weather will be cooler and there will be tons of natural light.

2. Hire a photographer with a distinctive style to avoid monotonous photos

It goes without saying that you do not want photographs that look just like every other wedding that has taken place on the island. By hiring a photographer who has a distinct style, or is flexible in their approach will result in more creative Santorini wedding photography that’ll stand out from the crowd.

3. Visit Emborio for stunning architectural photos away from the touristic crowds

Emborio is the largest village in the Cyclades and can be found in the central west part of Santorini. But because it doesn’t have the view of the caldera, it is almost always free of tourists. That, coupled with the gorgeous architecture and narrow streets makes it a perfect spot for a few shots.

4. Check out the fantastic village of Imerovigli

Imerovigli is one of the most exclusive caldera-facing parts of the island, and still manages to be relatively tourist-free. It is rife in magical architecture and winding streets, making it a great area for a few pre-wedding photographs.

5. Choose a photographer that you get on well with

You’ll be working very closely with your Santorini wedding photographer, which means that getting along with him or her on a personal level will result in a smoother and more enjoyable experience. Additionally, having a great relationship with your photographer means a better quality of images.

With that, there is no doubt that you’ll have a spectacular wedding day in Santorini! Enjoy everything that the beautiful island has to offer and you’ll be rewarded with memories that’ll last a lifetime.
