Liam Collard adores being a Phuket photographer for international couples in love. And this is the fairytale story of Michelle and James…
Having both studied at Loughborough University, Brits, Michelle and James met whilst in university. Michelle was in her first year, studying psychology and James, in his second year studying quantity surveying and commercial managing.
The pair felt an unimaginable connection with one another and, after dating for a while, James knew that Michelle was ‘the one’. For that reason, on a white sandy beach in Krabi, James organised a private dinner for the two of them and proposed in the form of a heart-shaped mango sticky rice pudding (Michelle’s favourite). Flabbergasted at first, Michelle finally came back down to earth and exclaimed that she would love to be James’s wife.
The pair chose to marry in Phuket due to Michelle’s Thai heritage and the fact that the island holds many special memories of the two of them. And so, even more memories were made on their big day – and they were encapsulated perfectly thanks to their Phuket photographer Liam Collard and his partner, Stam.
Their location, The Shanti, left the couple speechless and they loved it for its authenticity and lack of modernity. Their guests came from several different countries such as the UK, Australia, USA, British Virgin Islands, Canada and Israel, and the wedding party was comprised of 94 guests in total, with four bridesmaids, and five groomsmen. It was fair to say that each and every guest was in awe of Michelle’s gorgeous wedding dress by Sophia Tolli and James’s fitted suit by Ted Baker.
The event, planned by Luxury Event Planners Phuket, had a travel theme following the colours of pink, gold and navy. The tables were decorated with bottle openers shaped as airplanes and named after the couple’s favourite places that they’ve visited together.
Additionally, they enjoyed their first dance to DJ Sammy’s, Heaven (Candlelight Mix) and complimented each other with playful gifts such as a pair of socks in case one of them had cold feet, and personalised ‘bite cream’ with the words, “Get smitten, not bitten” written on the tube.
As a Phuket photographer focusing on beautiful weddings, Michelle and James’s picture-perfect day was definitely one to remember.
