Watanabe & Sunny’s Intimate Destination Wedding in Santorini, Greece

We were delighted to capture Watanabe and Sunny’s intimate wedding day memories as the couple chose one of our favourite destination wedding locations, the island of Santorini in Greece. We spent many hours with just the bride and groom photographing some incredible portraits, as the couple decided to exchange their wedding day vows in the presence of their own company.

Destination Wedding in Santorini, Greece

The couple temporarily left homeland Japan behind to begin their journey in life together surrounded by the spectacular backdrops found on this stunning island. As Stam and I spend our summer months shooting weddings here each year, we were fortunate to know the locations of some of Santorini’s most amazing “hidden spots”.

As you can’t really have a Santorini wedding without a series of classic Santorini bride and groom portraits, on our first afternoon together we took the couple to the beautiful white washed village of Imorvigli. As you can see from the photographs, the contrasting colours of deep blues and whites was beautifully complimented by the couple’s natural energy and romance.

Sunset Portraits

We then took Watanabe and Sunny on a photographic journey through the streets of Santorini before heading out to the other side of the island to the deserted clifftops overlooking the caldera, providing a dramatic set of portraits just as the sun set.

Sunrise Portraits

The couple had based themselves in the idyllic small town of Oia on the Aegean coast, so we met them at 5am the very next morning to take advantage of the sunrise when the village was quiet. It’s a bustling place during the day so we were delighted to get this time with them, set against the natural beauty of the village. This is when we took some of our favourite images too!

Thanks Watanabe and Sunny, we had such a fabulous time working with you, made even more simple for us by your wonderfully intimate and playful nature.
