Jessica & Lincoln’s Tropical Destination Wedding at Sava Villas, Phuket

Bride Jessica was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and moved to Hong Kong in 2011 after finishing university. Similarly her husband to be Lincoln was born in Hong Kong but spent part of his childhood in Toronto and studied in Vancouver. They also have quite it bit more in common; both the youngest in their families, avid travellers, competitive Ultimate Frisbee players and in their words, closet nerds. Their vacations typically involve hiking, scuba diving and copious amount of eating. In fact, they’re pretty sure their honeymoon will involve climbing a mountain!

Lincoln and Jessica met in the summer of 2010 when Jessica was working in Hong Kong on an internship, Lincoln had also just moved back to Hong Kong to be with his family. Summer love was certainly in the air but unfortunately Jessica had to move back to Canada to finish her last year of university. However, they kept in touch over the year and started dating shortly after Jessica moved back to Hong Kong in 2011.

The Proposal

In 2015, Jessica and Lincoln went on holiday to Nepal for a 9-day trek to Annapurna Base Camp. On the morning of the 7th day, they woke up bright and early to watch the sunrise at base camp. They we were holding onto each other tightly in the frigid cold when Lincoln whispered into Jessica’s ear to say he had a surprise for her. Hoping it was chocolate or something edible, much later to her embarrassment, Jessica quickly realised Lincoln was about to propose!

What an incredible experience it must have been, as they stood there on the viewing deck, surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains. And to put the icing on the cake their trekking guide draped them with traditional Nepalese wedding engagement sashes and shawls. So romantic! On their way back down, they were congratulated by so many other trekkers and Nepalese guides. Word sure did travel fast!

Tropical Destination Wedding at Sava Villas, Phuket

It’s no surprise with their love for travel they had their hearts set on having a tropical destination wedding. Living in Hong Kong, they were spoiled for choice with the whole of Asia on their doorstep. However, they quickly singled out Phuket due to its reputation for delivering high quality bespoke wedding services with the ease of access for all their nearest and dearest friends and family, travelling mainly from other Asian countries.

After visiting several hotel resorts and private villas in Thailand, they picked out Sava Villas in Phuket for the intimacy it offers; a private venue beside a gorgeous beach, plenty of space to accommodate their guests and with ample privacy to dance the night away!

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place outside at the luxury retreat of Tievoli at Sava Villas, on a luscious stretch of green lawn just a stone’s throw away from the white sandy beaches of Natai.

Jessica accompanied by her 4 bridesmaids looked gorgeous dressed in her custom-made wedding gown by Hong Kong bridal designer Katherine Yeung a perfect combination of glamour and whimsical.

“The lace detailing of the dress was exquisite and I loved the look of the dramatic exposed low back, illusion lace along the neckline and how the tulle train looked so effortlessly elegant no matter how it fell.”

Jessica said she had so much fun dressing her wedding party since she had such a diverse group. She loved the look of mismatched bridesmaid dresses and decided on soft colour palette of pale blush, light grey and nude. Lincoln’s 4 groomsmen wore custom tailored white collar dress shirts with personalised embroidery on their cuffs, paired with handmade linen bowties. Jessica also matched the groom’s attendant with the boys in a navy, cold shoulder dress.

Their al fresco seaside reception was under a canopy of dreamy hanging fairy lights and leafy foliage. As they have always been in love with Thailand; the people, culture and food they also incorporated Thai elements into their wedding celebrations; an elephant on their wedding logo (designed by Lincoln’s university friend, Kalin Thompson), a welcome party serving authentic local cuisine and a noodle stand for late night snacking!

“Our favourite wedding day moment was the ceremony! From upbeat entrances to moving speeches, there were so many emotions packed in such a short amount of time. All the nerves melted away as we took in the beautiful scenery and was surrounded by our closest friends and family. It was an amazing experience.”

Tina & Matt’s Glamorous Wedding Photography at the Luxury Amanpuri Villa, Phuket

Tina & Matt’s international wedding celebration at the Amanpuri Villa, Phuket. What a fantastic way to start our 2016/2017 Thailand Wedding Season just one week after our trip to New York.

We first met Hong Kong expatriate’s Tina and Matt last April while photographing the marriage ceremony of their friend’s Robin & Jamee. Who threw a spectacular golf themed wedding at the Banyan Tree Resort in Phuket Thailand. As you can imagine we had been looking forward to this wedding for quite some time, and it didn’t disappoint!

Bride Tina and her partner Matt first set their eyes upon each other while socialising with friends at a bar in Hong Kong’s popular nightspot of Lang Kwai Fong.

The Proposal

Tina: “It was the first-time Matt took me to his family’s holiday home on Vancouver Island, a place very dear to his heart. We took a casual stroll along a pebble beach that his family calls White Shell Beach. Matt insisted we took a bottle of wine – why not J. We sat down on the pebbles and then Matt started to randomly ask my thoughts on a pebble in his hand…? It’s round, brownish black as pebbles tend to look like. I turned away, not thinking too much about his random question but the next pebble he proceeded to show me … was THE ring J.”

Wedding Ceremony & Reception

The couple chose Phuket, Thailand as it’s a place they call their home away from home both having holidayed there since they were young.  Tina with the help of

Martin & Socheata’s Romantic Thailand Wedding at Cape Sienna Phuket

Australian couple Martin & Socheata met through mutual friends, it was love at first sight. A year later when exploring Hong Kong on holiday, Martin proposed to Socheata while dining at “The Peak” restaurant with its stunning views over Victoria Harbour.

Socheata: “I’m scared of heights and wondered why Martin kept pushing me to the edge and that’s when he proposed over-looking the beautiful skyline of Hong Kong. I was in complete shock and surprise at first but then became overjoyed.”

Romantic Thailand Wedding

6 years later, on Monday 7th of March 2016 the glamorous couple married at one of our favourite venues, Cape Sienna Phuket Hotel & Villas in Thailand. Their dream wedding was to have an intimate resort-style theme, overseas with breath-taking views that could not be replicated back home.

Socheata is a fantastically talented seamstress, she designed both her own wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. Every detail was meticulously planned including their custom-made wedding rings, Swarovski wedding jewellery and Jimmy Choo bridal shoes

Susie & Michael’s Secluded Beach Wedding

Bride Susie and groom Michael are both Korean-American’s and first met at a friend’s party in New York City. They wanted a small and intimate destination wedding with close friends and family, so they could spend a few relaxed days together while enjoying everything a truly tropical destination wedding has to offer.

The Proposal: Michael’s proposal was ingenious and we salute his patience, waiting for the actual moment to arise! One of the first times they went away together they booked into a beautiful B&B in Vermont. Adam had a cunning proposal idea, he asked Susie help him do a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle, which actually took them all day to complete. You know that annoying moment when you’re missing the last piece, well that’s exactly what happened but of course there was a twist. Michael had placed, what turned out to be the last piece, into a jewellery box which he hid inside the closed puzzle box. Michael pretended to look for the piece while Susie grew increasingly agitated. Susie then decided to grab and shake the puzzle box, hurrah she heard something inside, so quickly tore it open and found a jewellery box… Michael quickly got on one knee and popped the question with the ring in his hand. After five seconds of silence, obviously in shock, Susie responded by asking “does that mean the missing piece is in here?” pointing to the jewellery box. Her first instinct was to finish the puzzle and then replied “Yes!” putting on her stunning engagement ring by jewellers Jerry Blickman.

The awesome New York couple arranged their small and intimate destination wedding at one of our favourite

Martyn and Gemma’s Lush Tropical Wedding, Rayavadee, Krabi Thailand

Stam and I first meet Scottish bride Gemma in Glasgow, about a year before her wedding. She gave a very detailed picture of her dream destination wedding in Thailand. We understood straight away that Gemma and Martyn’s wedding was going to be an intimate and relaxed affair.

Gemma and Martyn met in 2008 in their home town Falkirk in Scotland. And just four years later, very romantically on Christmas Day morning, Martyn proposed to his wife to be Gemma. She of course said yes and off they went to Christmas Day lunch at Gemma’s mum’s house with very exciting news!

Gemma: “We didn’t want a big wedding, just something small and intimate. Scottish weather is miserable, so we decided to go abroad. Martyn’s friend had mentioned a wedding he was at in Rayavadee. We took a look and fell in love!!”

The bride and groom wanted a tropical themed wedding and what a fabulous location they chose! Rayavadee, Krabi, Thailand is situated at the heart of the stunning Phranang Peninsular on the edge of Krabi Marine National Park. The Rayavadee Resort nestles discreetly amidst tropical gardens and coconut groves against a backdrop of sheer cliffs, lush jungle foliage and the clear waters of the Andaman Sea.

Robin & Jamee’s Spectacular Golf Themed Wedding, Banyan Tree Resort Phuket

We loved Robin and Jamee’s golf themed wedding at The Banyan Tree Golf Course. It added a spectacularly different photographic angle, to that of the normal destination weddings we shoot here on Phuket Island.

We were introduced to the amazing couple through a previous Hong Kong client of ours. Robin and Jamee contacted us after seeing their wedding photos.

The bride and groom first met in their home country of Hong Kong, as one does over a coffee. Then while on vacation in Bhutan, after climbing 3,200 meters up to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Jamee asked their guide to clear out the temple. He then got down on one knee and popped the question to his beautiful wife to be Robin, with a stunning custom made engagement ring.

The Banyan Tree Golf Course, Phuket, Thailand was recommended to Robin and Jamee by Robin’s father whom, like Jamee, is an avid golfer. He played a tournament there and thought it was the perfect venue for their wedding. The groom Jamee heard “golf course wedding” and was sold! Logistically they also thought it was super easy with direct flights to Phuket from Hong Kong.

Stam and I managed to fit in an amazing pre-wedding photoshoot

Amanda & Louis’ Vibrant Wedding in Bangkok’s Old Quarter, Thailand

British couple Amanda and Louis first met on a blind date in Central London. While on holiday to Sri Lanka a few years later Louis romantically proposed to Amanda on the top of Adam’s Peak in Sri Lanka, with her beautiful engagement ring from London’s Hatton Gardens.

The to be bride and groom had no doubts that their desired location for their destination wedding would be Thailand and ultimately Chakrabongse Villa, a little known marvel tucked away in a prime location by the Chao Phya River, in the midst of Bangkok’s old quarter. The choice of venue wasn’t only a stunning option but extremely convenient to organise and manage for their international guests as Amanda’s parents also live in Bangkok.

We were delighted to hear from Amanda and Louis when they first got in touch, as we were recommended through one of our former UK clients who also married in Thailand. Our wedding day preparations were made even easier thanks to Amanda’s parents for taking us on a tour of the venue in advance of their big day, to get a feeling for the day’s events.

We were also invited to a fabulous pre-wedding party in Bangkok’s old district at Tep Bar, where we met Amanda and Louis for

Adam & Marvie – Sri Panwa Phuket, Ultimate Destination Wedding

Adam and Marvie chose one of Phuket’s most glamorous wedding venues, Sri Panwa, the ultimate destination wedding on Phuket Island. The luxury hotel, private pool villas & spa resort is perched high atop Cape Panwa with its commanding and breath-taking views of the South Eastern tip of Phuket, occupying the Cape Panwa peninsula in its entirety. “We looked at several locations around SE Asia, but as soon as we saw Baba Nest and experienced the hospitality of Sri Panwa, we knew it was the ideal location.” Adam and Marvie both live in Singapore, the groom is Australian and the bride is Filipino. They met one evening at a nightclub called 1-Altitude, where Adam was playing that night, he’s a well-known DJ and travels the world DJ Adam Sky.

The Proposal

Marvie the Bride: “I had no idea! He came back from touring in Africa, and surprised me by taking me off to Capella on Sentosa Island. I didn’t think too much at first as he does tend to do things off the cuff from time to time. Even when we were picked up in the biggest limousine I’ve ever seen, and checked into the Villa for two nights at Capella, I was still none the wiser. He arranged for a private romantic dinner for just the two of us, surrounded by about 1000 candles, and a 3-piece acoustic guitar trio playing songs I like. It wasn’t until he surprised me by dropping down to one knee to ask me to marry him, that I realised he was proposing! Obviously, I said

Nick & Tarika’s Ocean View Wedding in Phuket Thailand

American bride and groom, Tarika and Nick wanted a unique experience on their wedding day that was personal and reflected their relationship, life and story so far. Even though Nick spent a number of years working in Thailand (he also speaks Thai), he didn’t meet his future wife Tarika until he returned to the States. They first met in Redlands, California and not too long after, Nick proposed romantically down on one knee, with Tarika’s engagement ring from fine jewellers Emerson and Farrar.

Nick and Tarika’s guests travelled all the way from America to celebrate their special day at the ocean view wedding in Phuket, Thailand. Celebrations began the evening before with pre wedding drinks at the luxurious Palm Seafood restaurant in Phuket, where we took our first photos of the bride and groom and the entire wedding party. It was a fun and relaxed evening with all the guests enjoying the balmy weather.

The very next day we headed to their luscious wedding day villa with breath-taking
