Jessica & Lincoln’s Tropical Destination Wedding at Sava Villas, Phuket

Bride Jessica was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and moved to Hong Kong in 2011 after finishing university. Similarly her husband to be Lincoln was born in Hong Kong but spent part of his childhood in Toronto and studied in Vancouver. They also have quite it bit more in common; both the youngest in their families, avid travellers, competitive Ultimate Frisbee players and in their words, closet nerds. Their vacations typically involve hiking, scuba diving and copious amount of eating. In fact, they’re pretty sure their honeymoon will involve climbing a mountain!

Lincoln and Jessica met in the summer of 2010 when Jessica was working in Hong Kong on an internship, Lincoln had also just moved back to Hong Kong to be with his family. Summer love was certainly in the air but unfortunately Jessica had to move back to Canada to finish her last year of university. However, they kept in touch over the year and started dating shortly after Jessica moved back to Hong Kong in 2011.

The Proposal

In 2015, Jessica and Lincoln went on holiday to Nepal for a 9-day trek to Annapurna Base Camp. On the morning of the 7th day, they woke up bright and early to watch the sunrise at base camp. They we were holding onto each other tightly in the frigid cold when Lincoln whispered into Jessica’s ear to say he had a surprise for her. Hoping it was chocolate or something edible, much later to her embarrassment, Jessica quickly realised Lincoln was about to propose!

What an incredible experience it must have been, as they stood there on the viewing deck, surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains. And to put the icing on the cake their trekking guide draped them with traditional Nepalese wedding engagement sashes and shawls. So romantic! On their way back down, they were congratulated by so many other trekkers and Nepalese guides. Word sure did travel fast!

Tropical Destination Wedding at Sava Villas, Phuket

It’s no surprise with their love for travel they had their hearts set on having a tropical destination wedding. Living in Hong Kong, they were spoiled for choice with the whole of Asia on their doorstep. However, they quickly singled out Phuket due to its reputation for delivering high quality bespoke wedding services with the ease of access for all their nearest and dearest friends and family, travelling mainly from other Asian countries.

After visiting several hotel resorts and private villas in Thailand, they picked out Sava Villas in Phuket for the intimacy it offers; a private venue beside a gorgeous beach, plenty of space to accommodate their guests and with ample privacy to dance the night away!

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place outside at the luxury retreat of Tievoli at Sava Villas, on a luscious stretch of green lawn just a stone’s throw away from the white sandy beaches of Natai.

Jessica accompanied by her 4 bridesmaids looked gorgeous dressed in her custom-made wedding gown by Hong Kong bridal designer Katherine Yeung a perfect combination of glamour and whimsical.

“The lace detailing of the dress was exquisite and I loved the look of the dramatic exposed low back, illusion lace along the neckline and how the tulle train looked so effortlessly elegant no matter how it fell.”

Jessica said she had so much fun dressing her wedding party since she had such a diverse group. She loved the look of mismatched bridesmaid dresses and decided on soft colour palette of pale blush, light grey and nude. Lincoln’s 4 groomsmen wore custom tailored white collar dress shirts with personalised embroidery on their cuffs, paired with handmade linen bowties. Jessica also matched the groom’s attendant with the boys in a navy, cold shoulder dress.

Their al fresco seaside reception was under a canopy of dreamy hanging fairy lights and leafy foliage. As they have always been in love with Thailand; the people, culture and food they also incorporated Thai elements into their wedding celebrations; an elephant on their wedding logo (designed by Lincoln’s university friend, Kalin Thompson), a welcome party serving authentic local cuisine and a noodle stand for late night snacking!

“Our favourite wedding day moment was the ceremony! From upbeat entrances to moving speeches, there were so many emotions packed in such a short amount of time. All the nerves melted away as we took in the beautiful scenery and was surrounded by our closest friends and family. It was an amazing experience.”

Watanabe & Sunny’s Intimate Destination Wedding in Santorini, Greece

We were delighted to capture Watanabe and Sunny’s intimate wedding day memories as the couple chose one of our favourite destination wedding locations, the island of Santorini in Greece. We spent many hours with just the bride and groom photographing some incredible portraits, as the couple decided to exchange their wedding day vows in the presence of their own company.

Destination Wedding in Santorini, Greece

The couple temporarily left homeland Japan behind to begin their journey in life together surrounded by the spectacular backdrops found on this stunning island. As Stam and I spend our summer months shooting weddings here each year, we were fortunate to know the locations of some of Santorini’s most amazing “hidden spots”.

As you can’t really have a Santorini wedding without

Jo and Joe’s Chic Italian Wedding in Dreamy Florence, Italy

British bride Jo and her Italian/Canadian groom Joe, first met thanks to Joe’s eldest daughter Marina who introduced them when they were out one evening socialising with friend’s at bar called Le Jardin in Hong Kong.

We have many mutual friends in common with Jo and Joe from when I lived in Hong Kong and more recently when they stayed at our condo in Thailand (Joe was waiting to start a new job). So we were thrilled to be asked to photograph their chic Italian wedding in Florence, Italy.

The Proposal

“On my birthday, Joe took me to my favourite 3 Michelin Star restaurant in Hong Kong called Otto E Mezzo. He was eager to get me home before the clock struck midnight, as had set up the sound system to go off at that time for the proposal! As I had no idea this was coming, I was reluctant to go home as was having such a great time. I kept whining ‘but it’s my biiiirtday’, finally however he convinced me with a ‘let’s go home and open up a bottle of champagne to see your birthday in’ so I agreed.

As soon as we walked in the door he proceeded to open a bottle of bubbles and put the music on.  He figured he had 45 seconds to get down on one knee and get his speech out before the chorus came on in the music, which was Train’s ‘Marry Me’. I just sat there mouth wide open in silence… he said, oh I didn’t plan for this! Answer me!!… to which I replied… absolutely!”

The Ceremony

Jo and Joe although based in Hong Kong decided to marry in Florence, Italy. Not only because of Joe’s Italian routes but because bride-to-be Jo had always dreamt of marrying in Italy ever since she was a little girl. She felt very lucky indeed when she fell in love with a Canadian Italian!

Their wedding ceremony took place at

Lucy & Gee’s English Summer Wedding at Longstowe Hall, Cambridgeshire

Dubai couple Lucy (English) and Gee (German) first met half way around the world at Doha Airport in Qatar. Since they live in the Middle East and have family and friends worldwide, they wanted to choose a location that was both meaningful to them and not too difficult for their guests to travel to.

They both liked the idea of having an English summer wedding since they have both lived in the UK and have family in Europe. As soon as they viewed Longstowe Hall in Cambridgeshire, they fell in love with it instantly – a wonderful British countryside setting, with beautifully manicured lawns and rose gardens and a picturesque lake.

Wedding Day Preparations

Lucy and her two bridesmaids prepared for the celebrations ahead with hair and make-up by local Cambridgeshire artist “Tiffany does Make-up” before stepping into their bridal outfits.  Lucy’s “something new” were her gorgeous diamond earrings gifted to her by her parents. They were the perfect addition to her glamorous bridal gown by designer Justin Alexander and shoes by Valentino.

The Wedding Ceremony & Reception

“Seeing all our family and friends in the same place at the same time was

Fiona and Andrew’s English Summer Wedding at Haileybury College Chapel

Now this doesn’t happen too often… Bride Fiona and her groom Andrew had their very first date at the BFI bar on the Southbank on 27th August 2014, and their wedding day exactly 2 years later on 27th August 2016!

Fiona adopted Fudge the Yorkshire Terrier you’ll see in their wedding photos just a week before she met Andrew. So it’s not surprising she took Fudge to meet Andrew on their second date while going for a dog walk in Primrose Hill to ensure she had Fudge’s approval too 😉

Andrew proposed with his late grandmother Florence’s beautiful sapphire and diamond engagement ring at the Corinthia Hotel in London, very close to where they first met. The engagement ring was given to Andrew’s grandmother’s in 1937 by his grandfather, along with a matching brooch, which Andrew’s parents had made into a necklace for Fiona to wear on their wedding day.

The Wedding Ceremony

Andrew and Fiona’s English summer wedding took place at Haileybury College Chapel (Fiona’s old school) in Hertfordshire. The beautiful chapel was constructed in 1877 and designed by architect Arthur Blomfield in the Lombardic Romanesque style. The actual school was founded by the East India Company a few years earlier in 1862. The chapel is topped by a dome and cupola which make a striking landmark that is visible from many miles away.

The bride and groom found out by complete coincidence
